A variety of vessels built by Damen Shipyards Bergum, member of the Damen Shipyards Group and located in the North of the Netherlands, testifies the rich tradition of the yard since its start in 1955. The yards reputation for excellence and expertise is based on the solid foundation of decades of shipbuilding and engineering. In recent years the yard has invested extensively in highly skilled staff, research and design facilities and state-of-the-art shipbuilding techniques.
Being part of the cargo vessel division of the Damen Group, the yard is specialized in the vessels such as short sea cargo vessels, oil tankers, large tugs and offshore vessels. In 1985 the Group developed, in close cooperation with ship owners, a range of dry cargo vessels and Damen Shipyards Bergum has extended this range ever since. These cargo vessels are now known under the name of Damen Combi Coaster and Damen Combi Freighters. At present vessels both dry cargo and oil products are built within the range of vessels from 1.700 up to 8.200 tons dead weight. With approx. 75 employees, Damen Shipyards Bergum is building 7-8 vessels per year.
